EVENT:

1.  Sip and Sign, Group #4, and #SipandSign Deaf and    Hard-of-Hearing Center.

2.  To inform the community about the Deaf & Hard of Hearing, as well as reach out to students to feel more comfortable around the Deaf & Hard of Hearing Community.

3. To make people aware of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing Hearing Community.

The group process leads to the final conclusion of  #SipandSign.Once we realized that was not going to work Amanda called the deaf center and decided to get some collaborative ideas for our project. We all decided after a long discussion that we could find a way to inform students at TAMUCC about the deaf! We called Coffee Waves and it was soon decided that we would be using CoffeeWaves on Alameda for our idea.  We have decided  CoffeeWaves would be willing to help with pastries and coffee for this event.

5. For our expected outcome our idea was that we will include the idea of the deaf and hard of hearing by doing project #SipandSign. This event that we decided on will be taking place at either Coffee Waves. Without a doubt, we will for sure be serving coffee that is sponsored by the following restaurant, and pastries by the restaurant also. The incentive for students to come is that it is at a coffee shop that is close to campus. And that they would be learning something for the future.  So at our event, we would inform the school community at TAMUCC about the deaf community so that we would be spreading awareness. Following the speaker and interpreter, we would try to teach some students how to do sign language. We were thinking of students filling out a worksheet or survey to give feedback about what they learned. We even thought of speaking to communication media professors to try to get an extra credit appeal to their students so they could participate as well. As a group, we will have learned some sign language beforehand that way we can truly inform the students.

 Due to COVID, this event has been postponed until it is safe to gather in groups. 

There are some people currently meeting at Starbucks on Saratoga and Weber, that you are welcome to go to instead.
